Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". Slight discoloration on outer and top edges. Top board has very slight warp. Unpaginated and opens to signature on one page. Decorative end pages have some discoloration and there is occasional foxing throughout. Dust jacket is bright with some chipping on corners and spine ends with 1/8" loss on spine top. A little tearing on edges. Light tan background shows slight staining on front top and on hinge. Light rubbing and foxing.

Stated First Edition of this, Williams' fifth play. Author's Production Notes closes with a notation that Summer and Smoke was first produced by Margo Jones at her theater in Dallas. She later produced and directed in at the Music Box Theater in New York, opening Oct. 6, 1948. 130 pp. Blue-gray boards have slight discoloration on edges. Corners lightly worn and spine ends a little bumped with slight fraying. Tight and clean copy except for p. 120 which has two apparent accidental ink marks. Dust jacket has price intact ($2.75) Some chipping and fraying with a little loss on bottom front edge and spine ends. Rubbing wear on hinges and front flap fold. Now in mylar protection.
