MacDonald Company Commander Toronto Bantam Books 1978 Hard Cover Very Good+ Very Good Personal account of an officer, a captain and company commander of two different companies in the 23d Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII and then crossing the Rhine until the German surrender. Book is used as a lesson in leadership for command school. Original publish date was 1947; this is a 40th Anniversary edition, 1984, with a new foreward by Charles B. MacDonald who has since passed away. Book has slight lean and has minimal wear, some bumping to spine edges. Dust jacket has chipping with a little loss at spine edges. Price:

Tan boards with blue design and print - front board has respresentation of a CIB (Combat Infantryman's Badge) and print on spine is bright. Corners and spine ends show bumping and previous owner's name is on front pasted down paper. Boards have soiling and marking. Front hinge is beginning to loosen. No jacket. Price:

MacDonald would go on to write other authoritative works - a highly-respected military historian. Hard to find First Edition, so stated. Tan boards with blue design and print - front board has representation of a CIB (Combat Infantryman's Badge) and print on spine is bright, but there is a stain which has darkened the lower 1 3/4 in. of spine and onto about 1" of front bottom edge. Also shows faintly on bottom edge of back board. There are a couple of other faint spots on the back of spine. Edges show a little darkening and inside cloth edges have a little foxing. There is a gift inscription on front free end paper and an ink number and mark. Else clean interior. Page ends have some foxing. No jacket. Price:

Book club edition - 593 pp. Light corner and spine end wear. Previous owner's name stamped on front free end paper which has small stain on upper edge which shows on the next few pages a little. Penciled underlining on last 200 pp. White background of dust jacket has a little edge creasing and some dark rubbing on it, front and back. It has been laminated.
