A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". Boethius - "The Consolation of Philosophy", Thomas A Kempis - "The Imitation of Christ", Sir Thomas Browne - "Religio Medici". Intro by Irwin Edman. Book is tight and clean with minor shelfwear. Dust jacket is clipped with minor edgewear and slight darkening of spine. Very nice copy.

343 pp. Tight copy with red boards that show fading in a few areas of spine and on top edge where dust jacket is missing pieces. Bottom edges of boards, spine and corners have wear. Top edge of spine is frayed with a 1/2" tear - does not affect sturdiness of book. Front free end paper has previous owner's bookplate. Text block has several instances of underlining in red. Paper clip crease on a couple of page tops, and light shelf soiling on bottom page edge. Dust jacket is intact - with the aid of extensive tape repair on inside at spine. Significant wear with pieces missing. White background is rubbed and soiled. Good reference/work copy.

Dust jacket has edge chipping, as do spine ends. Top front edge has been tape-repaired on outside. Corners have light chipping. 1/3" closed tear on top of spine at front hinge. Spine is a little discolored, and the year, "1971" have been written in small numbers on spine. Now in protective cover.

The front of the blue boards of this little book have white rubbing/wear spots on edges. A little faint spotting and some bumping wear to corners and spine ends. Gilt of print is bright. Interior has small inked mark on title page and penciled pricing on rear pasted down paper. Paper is yellowing a little. Dust jacket is intact and has chipping and rubbing along edges and spine. White of back cover shows dark rubbing.
