A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". Taylor; "The Socorro Earthquakes", Bruce Ashcroft. + Book Reviews pp. 266 - 358. Tight soft cover issue with a little creasing on wrappers and a page or two is creased. Lower corner of front page edge has very faint damp stain which does not affect interior. Spine is sun-faded.

January, 1934 issue. Articles: ""Government Expeditions in the Territory of New Mexico, 1846-1859". A. B. Bender; "Bourke on the Southwest, II", Lansing B. Bloom; "Marking the Santa Fe Trail", Frederic A. Culmer. + Book Reviews. 112 pp. Wrappers have light spotting and there is an area of fading or discoloration on the front wrap. Creasing on front along hinge, and slight tear has begun at bottom about 1". Top of spine is curled and exposes signatures, but is intact. There is some chipping at the base of the spine and along edges. Top front corner is missing about 1/2", and rear top edge is missing a piece 1/2" X 2" from corner. Feature article's title is written in red ink on top of front, and there is occasional highlighting/underlining. Damp stain affects first few pages, and dark stain on top page edges affects tiny area of pages. Text is not affected by either.

Page 67 has another small pink spot which shows on p. 68. None of the stains affect the text block. Dust jacket is bright with minor wear and rubbing on spine area and on light background of rear jacket.

Each poem is illustrated by different artists, including Texas cartoonist Ace Reid. Oversized format - 8 1/2"W X 11 1/2"H. Bright, crisp and clean with minor wear to boards. Dust jacket has light edgewear and creasing on spine ends. Rear top hinge area has closed 1/2" tear. Light rubbing shows on blue portions, on flap folds and hinge edges. Spine is slightly faded from sun.

Large octavo, 7 1/2"W X 9 3/4"H. 145 pp. Book has slight right lean. Gift inscription on copyright page opposite author's inscription to previous owner. Tan cloth boards with bright gilt title on spine and bright gilt mustang design on front board. Very minor edgewear. Dust jacket is orange with Beeler's illustration, a horse and rider with wild mustangs on front panel. Price remains. Minor edge wear. Tope edge has creasing and tearing/fraying. Corners have light chipping wear. Front has a few small smudges, and rear has a spot or two. Light rubbing on hinges and flap folds. Now in protective cover. A very nice signed copy of a Western classic.
