A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". 1 1956 Rodeo Souvenir Annual: Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show Fort Worth
Fort Worth, Texas Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show 1956 Soft Cover Very Good 4to - over 9" - 12" tall 
Authentic program from the 1956 Fort Worth Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show. With memorial piece on Amon Carter, Jr., who died June 23, 1955. Carter is pictured on the front cover in the clouds above Amon Carter Square in Fort Worth, astride his horse and alongside his old friend Will Rogers, also horseback. Price 50c on cover. Laid in is 'Today's Program' for Matinee, Sat., Jan. 28th, 1956, and listed among the contestants are 5 time world champion Jim Shoulders and 2 time world champion Casey Tibbs. 56 pp. 8-1/2"WX 10-3/4"H. Stapled binding with light wear on hinge, especially on ends. Corners have light wear, and lightweight wrappers have a little creasing. Sturdy, bright and clean copy.

2 Aztec Eagle Presentation Honoring Jack Danciger
Fort Worth, TX 1945 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good No Dust Jacket 4to - over 9" - 12" tall 
Fort Worth oilman, philanthropist and honorary Consul of Mexico, Jack Danciger, was awarded the Aztec Eagle, Mexico's highest decoration presented to foreigners, on May 1, 1945. This is the program of that event with green cloth boards, 7-1/4"W X 10-1/2"H. Bright gilt print on front board and on bottom front corner is the name, "Miss Maria Rossell" in gilt type. Inside on the first page Mr. Danciger has inscribed, "Miss Maria Rossell, with my sincerest best wishes, Jack Danciger". Ceremonial cords are attached which were probably once Mexico's red, green and white, the colors having faded somewhat. High quality paper is used throughout with glassine covering each page for protection. Portraits of the President of Mexico, General Manuel Avila Comacho; President of the U.S., Harry S. Truman, who had just become president in April, 1945, upon the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Also pictures of other Mexican and American dignitaries, including Gov. Coke Stevenson of Texas and Mr. Danciger, of course. The event was held at the Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium in Fort Worth and was broadcast on radio station WBAP. Some of the protective glassine sheets have some wear and chipping. The boards have some corner and spine end wear, and areas of tiny spots show on front board. A piece of Mexican-American-Texana memorabilia honoring a Fort Worth icon.

Dust jacket is bright white with light creasing on edges and a little rubbing on rear panel which is discernible with a critical eye. Very nice signed copy.

Signed by Fort Worth and Texas Historian, beloved teacher, Julia Kathryn Garrett on front end paper and dated March 9, 1973. Book design by Bill Wittliff. Bright gold boards with clean interior. Slight discoloration in cloth of hinges, rear and front. Light minor corner and spine end wear. Clean interior. Top page edge has foxing, and forward page edge has a spot or two of foxing. Front end paper has penciled in gutter, "Amon Carter Museum, 3-18-73, $12.50 + .63 tax". Laid in is a brochure from the Fort Worth centennial, 1873 - 1973, held at the Amon Carter Museum. Dust jacket shows early Fort Worth scene. It has light chipping on corners, and spine ends show minor shelfwear. Top front edge has two or three small closed tears. Light background shows some rubbing and light spotting.
