A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". Brown cloth boards have a little light spotting and minor corner and spine end wear. Dust jacket is separated at rear hinge, though rear flap is present. Substantial chipping loss with creasing and tearing. Price intact. Now in protective cover.

Self-described as cowboy, cowboy poet, ex-veterinarian and sorry team roper, Black's humor and poetry kept me smiling as I tried to write this description. Each poem is illustrated by different artists, including Texas cartoonist Ace Reid. Oversized format - 8 1/2"W X 11 1/2"H. Bright, crisp and clean with minor wear to boards. Dust jacket has light edgewear and creasing on spine ends. Rear top hinge area has closed 1/2" tear. Light rubbing shows on blue portions, on flap folds and hinge edges. Spine is slightly faded from sun.

Large octavo, 7 1/2"W X 9 3/4"H. 145 pp. Book has slight right lean. Gift inscription on copyright page opposite author's inscription to previous owner. Tan cloth boards with bright gilt title on spine and bright gilt mustang design on front board. Very minor edgewear. Dust jacket is orange with Beeler's illustration, a horse and rider with wild mustangs on front panel. Price remains. Minor edge wear. Tope edge has creasing and tearing/fraying. Corners have light chipping wear. Front has a few small smudges, and rear has a spot or two. Light rubbing on hinges and flap folds. Now in protective cover. A very nice signed copy of a Western classic.

Small octavo format, 5-1/2"W X 7'3/4"H. 137 pp. Red cloth boards with mostly bright gilt print , rubbed on spine with small amount green showing on cowboy's hat in graphic. Boards are spotted and rubbed, especially on rear board. Edges show some bumping and wear. Interior hinges have been professionally repaired so that book is sturdy and substantial. Interior pages have some insect damage and loss on a few edges. Also an instance or two of writing in margins and some closed tears. Thanks to the person with the foresight to preserve this piece of cowboy history.

One page has diagonal crease on bottom corner, and paper is tanned. Dust jacket has price intact. Orange color has faded somewhat on spine. Corners and spine top show a chipping with a little loss. Two small closed tears on top of front panel - a 1/2" closed tear at hinge, and another about 1/4". Yellow of rear panel shows some rubbing and spotting.
