A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". "Publications of the Texas Folklore Society XLIV". 250 pp. Red boards with armadillo thinkin' 'bout Texas on the front board. Boards show rubbing on edges and hinges. Slight wear on corners and spine ends. Front board has few rubbing spots while back board has some light brown spotting which shows on white area. Page edges have very faint spotting.

Paisanos, or roadrunners, the name given by J. Frank Dobie to his fellows, is the theme of this collection of Texas folklore published by the Texas Folklore Society, Number XLI. Some photographs throughout with line drawings of the paisano by Linda Miller Roach. 180 pp. Stated First Edition. Brown cloth boards are bright and crisp, as is the book. With clean interior, appears unread. Tan laid dust jacket is clipped from the manufacturer. Roach's drawings are on the cover - one of a fierce roadrunner flying at a rattler. Fine copy of fine book.

Dust jacket is crisp - slight ink smudging from the printer in two places - on red wheel design and on black title. Very slight wear to corners and spine ends. Nice copy.

Volume VIII - Early Texas Folklore publication. 185 pp. Tight copy with blue wraps with light scuffing and faded spine. Rear wrap, page edges and some of each page has damp stains and mildew stains. Rear panel has white scuffed spots and waviness, and last few pages have waviness on bottom portion. Still, book is sturdy and tight.
