A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". We at Texas Star Books try to keep copies from Greene's list on hand. Some are easier to find than others, so we may not have them all. To view his picks, click on the book title. Sub-titled, "High Plains Freighting from the Earliest Days of the Santa Fe Trail to 1880". 347 pp. Tight and bright copy with light bumping to corners and spine ends. Clean interior. Front page edge has faint spotting. Price-clipped dust jacket hs light edge and corner wear. Slight creasing on edges and rubbing on cream-collored rear panel which also has a little staining. Spine is a little sun-faded.

Story of the Gila Trail from El Paso, TX, to San Diego, CA. 232 pp. Crisp and bright copy with light wear on corners and spine ends. Bottom page edge has black remainder mark. Clean interior. Dust jacket has slight chipping on corners and spine ends. Rubbing wear on flap folds and hinges - a little rubbing shows on the gold of the background of rear panel. Spine has faded slightly.

Previous owner's name on reverse of half-title page. Pages are tanned. No dust jacket.
