A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". Reunion held September 19-20-21, 1974 in Henrietta, Texas. Many pictures from previous reunions, participants, past presidents of the Clay County Pioneer Association, queens of the rodeos and reunions along with many advertisers from local businesses. A time capsule in brown and tan wrappers with photo of cabin and windmill on front cover. Stapled binding and unpageinated. Center pages have some slight warping on top margins. Very minor edge wear.

Dallas, Texas Universal Publishing Co. Hard Cover Very Good 4to - over 9" - 12" tall 
Listings with short biographical material and photo of men and women from Hill County, Texas, during World War II. Post war regional publication - no date given. "In Memoriam" page and "Dedication" page for those who lost their lives. Includes a letter to those who served from the Post Commander of the American Legion, one from Loy W. Harsfield, Pressident of Hillsboro College and Superintendent of School, as well as a letter from the Superintendent of Itasca, TX Public Schools. Not pageinated. White leather-like boards with blue tinge and American flag prominently on front board. Oversized format, 8-1/4"W X 11"H. Clean inside and out with hinges slightly loose and edges with light wear. Pages are tanned with age and have some minor creasing. Very nice commemorative piece.

Hard Cover Very Good- 4to - over 9" - 12" tall 
Tribute to those who served from Wichita County, Texas with photos and short biographical information. Notation from the era (early post WWII): White service men/women are listed first with African-Americans listed separately. Unpageinated. Pale blue leatherlike padded boards with American flag. Indentions in on right side of soft front board and across bottom about 1" from edge. Corners and spine ends have some wear with a little tearing. Front hinge is loosened and rear hinge is slightly loosened. End papers have world map. Rear blank end paper has small black smudge. Else clean and tight interior. Sturdy and collectible.

Laid in is a copy of Page 5 from a list of titles of books on Texas historical sites, cities or counties with this title marked. Light brown boards have graphic of a spur, emblematic of the storied Spur Ranch, part of which was in Dickens County - also the town of Spur. Oversize format, 8-1/2" W X 11"H. 355 pp. Tight and clean copy has slight right lean. Light edgewear with slight rubbing on hinges and bottom edge. Bottom of spine has very minor fraying.

Large format, 9-1/4"W X 12-1/4"H. 800 pp. Black boards with pastedown depicting rural scene. Bright gilt pring. Very light edge wear. Front board has several very tiny white specks and a small brown mark on the right margin. Top page edge has very faint smudge, and forward page edge has a small spot and a little faint smudging. Interior is clean, bright and crisp. Laid in is an announcement of the book with guidelines for preserving family histories and a form to reserve a copy of the book, $50 each.

Revised from 1937 issue. Crisp copy with slight right lean. White boards show substantial foxing/spotting, and page edges have very light foxing. Clean and bright text block. Price-clipped dust jacket has white background which shows light spotting with some rubbing at flap folds and hinges. Spine is a little tanned. Top of spine has creasing/fraing, and top edge has creasing and a few small tears - one 1" closed tear. Top corners at flap fold have chipping wear and top corner of rear flap has small missing area. Bottom edge of spine has light wear.

Oversize format, 8-1/2"W X 10-3/4"H. 340 pp. Tan/gold boards have minor edgewear. Front hinge shows light wear at top, and both boards have one or two very faint dark rubbed marks. Front board has several small white spots, apparently tiny scuffs. Bottom board edges show light wear, and bottom page edge has corner shelf-soiling. Previous owner's name on front free end paper, with date, "4-13-74" Rest of interior clean and crisp.

Rust-red colored cloth boards with black graphic of cowboy and horse and black print. Light corner and spine end wear. Pages are tanned, and interior is clean but for on tiny smudge in margin of one page. A few bottom page corners have slight creasing.

Also included is a pamphlet on Fort Richardson State Historic Site. 514 pp. Clean and bright copy with very slight edgewear. Gilt print on front cover is slightly rubbed. Bottom corner of page edge has very minor soiling from shelf.

Text block is clean, and book is tight. Publication announcement from The Pemberton Press is laid in. Dust jacket has price intact. Flap folds, hinges and spine show considerable insect damage. Rear panel and flap folds show darkening and foxing on edges. A few small closed tears on edges. Still bright front panel with brown backbround and historic county buildings depicted. Now in protective cover.
