Soundings: Writings from the Rice Institute Houston, TX Anson Jones Press 1953 Limited Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Signed by Author This is #19 of a limited edition of 500. Sponsored by the Owen Wister Literary Society. This copy was owned by one contributor who became a professor of literature at TCU. Signed by several of contributors. Selections from writers who were students at the time, 1953, or had association with the Rice Institute, including William Goyen, David Westheimer and a poem by James Dickey, "Utterance I" - very early book appearance of a Dickey poem. 159 pp. Tight copy with a number of clippings and photos taped to end papers which has caused ghosting. Light wear on corners and spine ends. Dust jacket has price intact and is bright with some small creases. Top edge has several small, closed tears. Now in protective cover.

George Keithley The Donner Party New York George Braziller 1972 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Epic poem of the tragic Donner Party. Stated 1st. Clean and tight copy. Boards have light edgewear and a very slight right lean. Light fabric of front cover has an area which is slightly lighter than the rest, which follows the line of a tear in the dust jacket. That tear was repaired with tape from the inside, but apparently not before some fading took place. However, it is barely discernible. The dust jacket also has a 1" tear on the top edge near the corner which has been taped from the inside. Top of spine has creasing and chipping with some tearing. Corners have wear, and bottom of spine has slight creasing.

Lamb, Mary Wright After the Badlands Ars Poetica Press 1961 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good No Dust Jacket 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Signed perhaps by author, and inscribed to CEO and founder of Radio Shack, "Inscribed to Charles Tandy with affectionate regards, Mary (Connell) Jan. '75". 53 pp. Collection of poetry. Yellow boards show a little soiling/rubbing, while front board has some minor indentions. Corners and spine ends are lightly bumped. Interior pages have pale damp stain about 1" up from bottom at gutter.

Lee, Henry G. Nothing But Praise Culver City, CA Murray & Gee 1948 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good No Dust Jacket 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Poems of 1st Lt. Henry G. Lee, who survived the Bataan Death March, imprisonment at Cabanatuan and other Japanese POW camps but was killed while being shipped to Formosa aboard a 'hellship'. He buried his poetry under his barracks at Cabanatuan, and it was found after the camp was liberated by American rangers & scouts and Filippino guerillas, Jan. 1945. Lt. Lee's parent's published the poems and letters in 1948. Alice Springs, in her book, 'The Most Dangerous Man in America' said of Lee's work, "...few soldiers leave poems of such quality, but Lee's are celebrated for their restrained and remarkable beauty.". Gray-blue boards with black print showing a little rubbing. Light corner bumping and edge wear. Spine is creased and rubbed, and rear board has 1/4" oval paint spot. Some darkening of edges. Front paste down paper has previous owner's book plate.Opens to signature in a few places, but is a sturdy and clean copy. Rare hard back first printing.

Book is bright, crisp, tight and clean with very slight edgewear. Dust jacket is bright with very light edgewear and faint spotting where price tag was on upper right corner off front panel. Rear panel has small rubbed area. Very nice copy.

Dust jacket is also bright and crisp. Spine ends show a little wear. Very nice copy.
