A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". Signed by Maude Gilliland, author, on front free end paper. She tells the first-hand story of law enforcement in South Texas during prohibition, her husband, father and grandfather all Texas Rangers. Well indexed and resourced with bibliography. 175 pp. Blue boards with silver print. Spine has some wrinkling from manufacture, and corners are slightly bumped. Bottom edge of first few pages has a few spots. Else clean interior. Dust jacket, now in protective cover, has light creasing on top edge at spine. Front panel with photo of Rangers is bright, as is spine. Solid light rear panel shows a lfew darker spots, very small. Both flap fold show darkening at folds and on top edge. Nice copy of scarce history of border liquor smuggling and the efforts of Texas lawmen to stop it.
