Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". 555 pp. Blue boards with bright gilt type. Light corner and spine end bumping. Tanned pages. Front free end paper has blue rubbing and waviness from dampness on lower half of page. Front flap of dust jacket also shows effects of dampness on lower portion. Dampness affects lower portion of first 35 pages, diminishing on each page. Pale blue of dust jacket has faded to brown on spine and on top edge of rear panel and on flap folds. Corners show light wear, and spine ends have fraying with bottom front hinge having a 2" closed tear extending into front panel - tape repaired from the inside. Now in protective cover.

Examples of selected works: "Mein Kampf", Hitler; "Inside Europe", John Gunther; "Not Peace But A Sword", Vincent Sheehan. 371 pp. Clean and tight copy. Vertical crease on both front and back wrap; top of spine has tape, though there appears to be no tearing. Front hinge is rubbed, and other edges show light wear. Red page edges are bright, and interior appears unread. Nice item as if from time capsule.

Bottom edge of dust jacket has insect damage. Still, intact and in protective cover.
