A.C. Greene's 50+ Best Books on Texas

A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". We at Texas Star Books try to keep copies from Greene's list on hand. Some are easier to find than others, so we may not have them all. To view his picks, click on the book title. Author's signature on half title page - signature only. Bright red cloth boards with gilt print, somewhat rubbed on spine. Very slight right lean. Corners lightly bumped and spine shows light wear. Cloth on boards has minor wrinkling and front board has a small spot and a couple of faint light marks . End papers have 'A Pictorial Sketch of Texas Showing State Parks'. Front paste down paper has previous owner's book plate as well as name, date, May 27, 1943, Fort Worth, Texas, in ink on top. Front free end paper has brown ink mark which hardly shows on sepia toned graphic. Interior is clean with a few creases on corners. 185 pp. Covered with clear acrylic which shows a little scraatching.

Stated first edition. 180 pp. Tan boards have bluebonnet graphic with title in blue on front board. Boards have waviness on outer portions, as if from dampness, though no staining. Page edges have a little foxing/spotting. Dedication page carries former owner's embossed seal. Top corner of front free end paper has erasure, and top margins of first few pages shows some waviness. Rear pastdown page has creasing perhaps from manufacture. Dust jacket has price intact. Darkened spine and rubbing wear on hinges and flap folds. Top edge has large chips missing, and some creasing and tearing. Spine ends have light chipping wear. Interior of dust jacket shows damp staining. Now in protective cover.
