A.C. Greene's 50+ Best Books on Texas

A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". We at Texas Star Books try to keep copies from Greene's list on hand. Some are easier to find than others, so we may not have them all. To view his picks, click on the book title. Small format, 4-1/2" W X 6-3/4"H. 249 pp. Front paste down paper has Santa Fe Railway System Property info for checking out manual. Green cloth boards have rubbing wear on cloth panels and edges. Rear hinge has been repaired, and front hinge is beginning to separate. Still intact and fairly sturdy. Interior has an occasional light mark - a name or number. 6 foldouts intact, though one has torn halfway down fold. Other pages have folded corners.

Wartime report on railroads transporting goods - from the back dust jacket, "The Greatest Movement of Men and Materials the World Has Ever Seen is Taking Place in America Today!" Great depiction of Uncle Sam astride industry and trainyards by well-known illustrator Dean Cornwell on front and spine of dust jacket. Red boards with black railroad design and type - bright and clean. 272 pp. Corner and spine ends are a little bumped. Clean and unmarked interior. Dust jacket has creasing and edgewear on spine ends and a little on corners. White background of back just jacket is somewhat rubbed and soiled. Front and spine bright and colorful with patriotic art. Very nice copy.

Now in protective cover.
