A. C. Green has left us, but his love of Texas, its various parts, its history and literature lives through his bright and lively work. Greene, in his literate and plainspoken way, gave us the great gift of a guide to Texas literature in 1982, "The 50 Best Books on Texas" and in the 1998 revised version, The 50+ Best Books on Texas". Cleveland World Publishing 1945 First Edition Third Printing Decorative Cloth Good No Jacket 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall 
Cartoonist Bill Mauldin, the GI's friend, created Willie and Joe and a few enemies among the command. Patton even asked him to knock it off, but Mauldin kept taking the dogfoot's side. This WWII classic opens to signatures at half-title page and is beginning to split. It is intact, however, and will make a good reading copy. Brown boards have a dime-sized light spot on front board, and slight bumping on corners and spine ends. Pages are tanned.

Spine is sun-faded and has some staining. Rear of jacket also has light staining on top edge and on flap fold. Pre-feminist look at widowhood - with incisive humor.

A chance to read Texana from the man who loved, studied and wrote it for a lifetime.

Boards have some spotting and bumping on corners with wear along hinges and spine ends. No internal markings, though paper is yellowed due to age, and there are a few incidents of spotting on some pages.

Also on half-title are two gift inscriptions dated '83 and '92. 1st Ed., 1st Ptg. Bright, crisp and clean copy with very slight right lean. Dust jacket has price intact. Corner and spine ends have some chipping with a little creasing. Edges have a few small closed tears, and front panel and flap fold show some light rubbing. Still colors are bright, just like Tolbert's observations! Now in protective cover.
